Question Govt faceoff brewing with Facebook, Other Social Media websites

Union communications and IT minister Kapil Sibal's demand from social network sites, like Facebook and Google, to prescreen user content from India and remove disparaging, inflammatory or defamatory content before it goes online has received bitter criticism on the social networking sites.

The company representatives are believed to have told Sibal his insist was impossible, given the volume of user-generated content from India, and that they cannot be accountable for formative what is and is not offensive or pained. They also said the demand could be implemented only if there was a clear law.

Kapil said they going to plans to set up its own unit to monitor information posted on websites and social media sites, what type of content should posted and want from social websites that they will give the email ID’s Domains etc’s of the users who posted offensive or pained contents and images at social or other websites. So that they punished them for that contents or images.

Facebook has more than 35 million users in India and Google about 100 million. And there is lots of other social websites. Is this possible to censor all the contents and how to make a decision what content is right or what is wrong? Sibal believes in self-regulation, then how anybody decides what others will post message or not?

Why we also do not protest through social media? We have many restrictions to protest at jantra mantra etc I think this is the non-violence way to protest. Why governments want to restrictions people’s freedom of speech?
